Experience is the difference at Marcus Morton’s Pit Stop Detail.
“The industry is full of ‘detailers,’ but Pit Stop has proven to provide a quality service to Arizona for over 15 years with a professional approach and continuous education for chemicals, tools and techniques in the industry,” says Morton, a Gilbert resident who started the company in 2007 with a mobile truck.
He opened the first store in Scottsdale in 2009 and the Gilbert location seven years later. He and his crew of 16 now have three mobile trucks that service the Valley for car washing and detailing. Both locations offer detailing services for the vehicle interiors and exteriors. These include paint correction, ceramic coatings, clear bra, automotive storage and premium hand washing.
After moving to Arizona from native Washington State, he started the business as a side gig with $10,000 from savings while working as a store manager for Starbucks. After a few years, he decided to make detailing full time and resigned from Starbucks.
Morton has always had a passion for cars. While in high school, his closest friends worked at a detail shop in Puyallup, Washington, where he first learned about detailing. “Since then, it’s been something I have always enjoyed doing,” he says.
He also enjoys time with his family and friends, cooking, traveling and scenic drives. “A little known fact,” he notes: “I was the first Starbucks partner (employee) to have entered into a latte art contest at a coffee fest in Seattle back in 2005. Coffee and cars are meaningful to me, as they have been the two areas of my professional careers this far in life. I still love both!”
