Tesla’s New Hollywood Diner: More Than a Novelty, a Glimpse Into the EV Future
Welcome to the Tesla Diner, a two-story, retro-futuristic eatery located at 7001 Santa Monica Boulevard in the heart of West Hollywood, California. Opened on July 21, this isn’t just a place to grab a burger — it’s a brand-new concept in EV charging and lifestyle integration.
A Diner Built for the EV Era
Part 1950s drive-in, part high-tech charging hub, the Tesla Diner is a fully immersive EV-centric destination, offering far more than food. Think: 24/7 dining, movie-sized LED screens, merchandise shopping, rooftop seating, and of course — 80 cutting-edge V4 Superchargers, making it the largest urban Supercharging station in the world.
Tesla owners and other EV drivers with North American Charging Standard (NACS) capability can top off their batteries while enjoying a milkshake on the rooftop Skypad or watching a film from the comfort of their vehicle.
But don’t let the car-centric design fool you — this place is open to everyone, including pedestrians, cyclists, and rideshare drop-offs. It’s a cultural crossroads as much as a charging station.
Eat, Charge, Watch
Tesla’s new location isn’t just a pit stop — it’s an experience. With 250+ seats across two levels, diners can enjoy responsibly sourced, locally inspired food on the ground floor or the outdoor Skypad upstairs. Whether you’re walking in or parked and plugged in, ordering is as easy as a few taps — including via your Tesla’s touchscreen using the Tesla Diner app.
The menu is pure Americana with a futuristic twist: burgers, fries, all-day breakfast, milkshakes, and other diner staples, served (of course) in Cybertruck-shaped packaging.
On the entertainment side, Tesla installed two enormous 66-foot LED megascreens that play films and exclusive Tesla content. Guests can watch from rooftop seating or stream directly inside their vehicles — making it possibly the only place in Los Angeles where “Netflix and charge” is literal.
Tesla Lifestyle, On Display
As with all things Tesla, the diner isn’t just about functionality — it’s also a platform for brand expression. Guests can shop exclusive Tesla merchandise, including apparel, collectibles, lifestyle products, and even candy, only available at this location. Tesla plans to rotate the offerings regularly, making each visit a little different.
The merch section is located upstairs, adjacent to the rooftop Skypad, where visitors get sweeping views of Hollywood, LA sunsets, and a front-row seat to the drive-in movie experience.
A Glimpse into the Future of Charging Culture
While the Tesla Diner might seem like a playful brand extension, it’s actually a bold rethinking of what EV infrastructure can be. By fusing lifestyle, entertainment, and energy, Tesla is creating “charging destinations” that elevate what used to be a time-consuming inconvenience into a social, even enjoyable, experience.
This strategy couldn’t come at a better time. EV adoption is accelerating, but a lack of reliable, fast, and intuitive charging infrastructure remains a major hurdle. According to Harvard Business School research, drivers are widely dissatisfied with charging station pricing and reliability — issues Tesla has solved with its globally dominant Supercharger network, now with 70,000+ stalls worldwide. And now, they’ve made it fun.
More to Come
If the Hollywood location succeeds — and judging by the early crowds and viral buzz, it already has — Tesla plans to roll out similar diners in major cities around the world, according to Musk. Each one would be a hybrid of diner, charger, retail hub, and entertainment venue — all “islands of good food, good vibes, and entertainment,” as he put it.
Tesla’s latest experiment in brand expansion isn’t just feeding drivers — it’s nourishing the entire EV ecosystem.
