Fleming's Restaurants - Four Locations Serve Valley Highline Readers

For Highline Autos readers, the Valley locations of Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar deliver the best in steakhouse dining and a superb selection of wines. All with contemporary, warm interiors, the four restaurants are in Chandler, 905 N. 54th St.; Peoria, 9712 W. Northern Ave.; and two in Scottsdale, 6333 N. Scottsdale Road and, in DC Ranch, 20753 N. Pima Road.

Celebrated for its prime meats and chops, Fleming’s is also an excellent choice for those who enjoy fresh fish and poultry, salads and sides, and the Fleming’s 100™ offers distinctive wines by the glass and 80 bottles are available from the restaurant’s Reserve list, overseen by Maeve Pesquera, Fleming’s wine director.

“Fleming’s was founded on the premise that a steakhouse can be sophisticated yet comfortable and not overpriced,” says Mike Head, operating partner at the Scottsdale Road location. “We offer an engaging ambiance and lively environment, where one can enjoy great food and a broad selection of fine wine, which is further complemented by attentive and knowledgeable service.”

In 1998, the first Fleming’s opened in Newport Beach, Calif., by restaurant industry veterans Paul Fleming and Bill Allen. Today, there are 64 restaurants nationwide, including the four in Phoenix. Fleming’s is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including Wine Enthusiast’s annual Award of Distinction, Wine Spectator Magazine’s Award of Excellence and Food & Wine Magazine’s Top 10 New Wine Lists in the Country.

Each Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar offers USDA prime corn-fed beef in a large selection of sizes and cuts, including an 8-ounce petite filet mignon and a massive 22-ounce Bone-In Ribeye. “We sear all of our steaks at extremely high temperatures on gas broilers to seal in the beef’s natural juices and flavors,” Head explains.

At all locations, Fleming’s Executive Chef Russell Skall and his team have recently debuted the new Steakhouse Cobb Salad entrée, with a choice of lobster or filet mignon, the Seared New Bedford Scallops entrée and Shrimp Cocktail appetizer. And, as always, fresh vegetables are served family style; these include six potato preparations. Desserts include the Chocolate Lava Cake and Crème Brulée.

Fleming’s is known for its wine list and wine dinners. The list is organized first by grape variety, then according to body and flavor intensity. Fleming’s also offers 2-ounce “wine tasting” samples at one-third the price of a full glass to assist diners in finding the right wines to complement their culinary choice.

“Our wine program is at the core of our dining experience,” Head says. “It is our point of distinction from other steakhouses. Coupled with our tremendous food, service and value, it is the key to creating a memorable experience for each of our guests.”

Each Fleming’s has commissioned fine art by Thomas Arvid. The dining rooms incorporate an exhibition kitchen and expansive bar, and each restaurant has a private dining room for large groups or, by means of room dividers, for a number of smaller groups. Another option is to open up the private dining area to flow into the main dining room.

Second Article Image A good way to enjoy Fleming’s: Each evening, Fleming’s 5-6-7 Happy Hour offers five wines, five appetizers and five martinis for $6 until 7 p.m. in the bar.

“Whatever Fleming’s you select around Phoenix, each is an outstanding choice for casual, business and private dining,” Head says.

Note: Each month, Highline Autos visits a business that exemplifies the quality its readers expect in hospitality, dining, clothing, travel, jewelry and other services and merchandise. For more information on Fleming’s, visit www.flemingssteakhouse.com.
