Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction Posts Record Sales, Helps Raise $1.1 Million for Charity
The trio of top cars at the 3rd Annual Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction June 20–23 brought almost $700,000, record total sales approached $27 million and charity vehicles raised $1.245 million.
During the four-day event, which debuted Mohegan Sun’s Expo Center in Uncasville, Connecticut, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions® sold 662 vehicles –– a 99.25 percent sell-through rate –– and 457 pieces of automobilia brought more than $832,000.
“Once again the energy and passion at our Northeast Auction has been incredible to experience,” says Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. Established in 1971 and headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, Barrett-Jackson also produces annual auctions in Scottsdale, Arizona; Palm Beach, Florida; and Las Vegas, Nevada.
The top three cars were a 1967 Chevrolet Nova Custom Coupe “The Innovator” (#687), $275,000; 1967 Shelby GT500E Super Snake (#667), $210,000; 2015 Rolls-Royce Ghost (#685), $203,500, a world-auction record.
The remaining top ten: a 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon ( #650) $198,000; 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS454 LS6 (#670), $172,700; 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird (#671), $170,500; 1965 Chevrolet Corvette 396/425 Convertible (#680), $170,500; 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia (#686), $170,500; 1970 Dodge Charger R/T Custom Coupe (#689), $156,800; and a 1960 Chevrolet Corvette 283/250 Convertible (#665.1), $144,100.
Pro wrestler Bill Goldberg helped auction the last-production models of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon ( #3002.1) and 2017 Dodge Viper (#3002) for $1 million, benefitting the United Way. A ’88 Corvette 35th Anniversary Edition (#3003) sold for $60,000, for the American Heart Association; a ’71 Corvette Sting Ray (#3000), The Klingberg Family Centers; and a ’70 Chevrolet C10 Pickup (#3001), the American Red Cross.
“We’ve been so blessed to have this community behind us over the last three years, which includes their tremendous support of our charity efforts,” says Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. Since start-up in 1971, the company has raised almost $104 million for charity.
The top three automobilia sales were a late-US Air Force Promotional Jet Shaped Go-Kart (#8288), $28,175; 1950s Mobil Oil left-facing porcelain Pegasus neon sign (#8297); $28,175; and a hand-built 1/3-Scale 1956 Corvette SR Prototype Go-Kart (#8268), $27,600.
