Porsche Chandler is the country’s first new Porsche dealership in more than a decade.
On the southwest corner of Gilbert and Pecos roads, 1010 S. Gilbert Road, just north of the Santan 202 Freeway, the dealership offers new and pre-owned Porsches as well as service, parts, accessories and detailing, all in a luxury setting consistent with one of the world’s great automotive marques.
Models include the convertible Boxster, two-door Cayman, four-door Panamera, Panamera E- Hybrid, Cayenne, Cayenne E- Hybrid, and Macan SUVs, and the legendary 911 up to the 370-horse twin turbo with a seven-speed manual –– the supercar you’ve dreamed about and will dream about again after you’ve driven it. This year a seven-speed Porsche PDK automatic is also available on a number of new Porsches.
The seven-acre parcel includes a 36,000-square-foot, 16-vehicle showroom, service and parts facility on four acres and a 22,000- square-foot “shared services” building on the remaining three acres, with vehicle detailing, tint/paint protection film (PPF) installation, clean room, commercial car wash, photo booth, large parts storage and general accounting offices.
Also, a Porsche exclusive boutique offers Tequipment vehicle accessories, Driver’s Selection apparel, and unique items such as Porsche bicycles, 911-based office chairs, luggage and exact replica racing model cars.
The building is a Porsche Gen 4 certified design and constructed to LEED Gold standards from the United States Green Building Council in Chicago, certifying high energy efficiency. In this case, extensive photo-voltaic solar power supplies a significant amount of energy for the campus. The architect is Robert Brown and Associates, Tempe, and Colton Constructors, also Tempe, is the builder.
Richard and Lisa Cvijanovich also own Subaru Superstore of Chandler (ShopSubaru.com), on the same corner as Porsche Chandler (PorscheChandler.com), and Volvo of Tempe (VolvoOfTempe.com). That Volvo dealership is slated to move to Pecos and Gilbert roads, across from the Porsche Chandler and Subaru dealerships, with an expected re-opening October 1, 2017.
“This will offer our customers from the East Valley, Phoenix and Scottsdale unimpeded freeway access to our three Gilbert Road dealerships for 25+ years,” Richard says.
They also are opening Subaru Superstore of Surprise in March 2017 located at the Loop 303 Prasada Auto Park and Autobahn Collision at the Chandler 202 Auto Park in July 2017. “That facility will be Porsche certified and handle our dealerships and clients’ collision needs, body and paint repairs and eventually handle restoration services for classic Porsches,” he explains.
Richard manages day-today operations for Porsche Chandler and oversees his other business entities. He was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and grew up in the car business, as his parents had a variety of dealerships, including import and domestic brands. “I began working for my dad at 10 years old, picking up trash and sweeping,” he recalls.
General Motors transferred him to the Valley 30 years ago, where he also attended graduate school at ASU. He has grown to enjoy the Valley, raise his family here and see his companies thrive.
Born in Toronto, Canada, Lisa is the dealerships’ client experience manager, coordinating onsite/off-site events, new owners’ orientations and service clinics.
The Porsche Chandler team of professionals includes Aaron Zielinksi, general sales manager; Steve Rotonda, sales manager; Jim Whitney, sales manager, pre-owned; and Russell Schwartzman, service and parts director.
“What I find most impressive is that Porsche offers the best of both worlds: the ability to have a daily driver and a performance car,” says Richard, who alternates driving the cars to experience their unique excellences. “You can take the family out in a Macan, for example, come home, then go out for a very spirited highway ride yourself –– all within minutes.”
