A 1963 Ferrari 400 SuperAmerica, owned by Donnie Crevier of Costa Mesa, California, was judged Best In Show at the Concorso Ferrari, Sunday, April 22, in Old Town Pasadena.
For the 11th annual event, 6,000 to 7,000 Prancing Stallion fans saw 140 cars on three blocks of Colorado Boulevard, from mid-century purpose-built racers to contemporary supercars. The crowd also enjoyed Ferrari memorabilia, accessories, quality apparel and generous sponsor displays.
Sponsoring the concorso is The Ferrari Club of America, Southwest Region (FCA Southwest Region), established in 1994. With 620-plus members throughout Southern California and Hawaii, the group is one of 43 active FCA chapters throughout North America.
Cars entered from 2006 and earlier were eligible and were judged following FCA national guidelines as stipulated by the International Advisory Council for the Preservation of Ferrari Automobiles (IAC/PFA).
A 1950 166 MM/195 S Berlinetta Le Mans, owned by Michael Leventhal, Beverly Hills, California, won the Best Car On The Street, and the Best Exotic Car on the Street was the 2018 La Ferrari Aperta, from the collection of Tony Shooshani, also Beverly Hills.
The People’s Choice Award, presented by Pirelli P Zero World, was given to Peter Giacobbi of Villa Park, California, for his beautiful 1959 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa re-creation.
And, those who entered ballots were included in a drawing for two winners, each receiving a pair of Los Angeles Dodgers box seat tickets.
This year’s sponsors were AIG Private Client Group, Bridgepoint Risk Management, Fast Toys, Fast Cars, CMS Motorsport and Restorations, Reliable Carriers, Highline Autos Magazine, Ferrari Market Letter, Ferrari South Bay, Ferrari Beverly Hills, Ferrari Westlake, Pirelli P Zero World, Hing Wa Lee (David Lee) Jewelers and Meguiars, Art Center College of Design (Pasadena) GTO Engineering, and KE Artexture.
“This, indeed, was Ferrari Extravaganza, with 275s, 308s, 365s, F430s, Modenas, Maranellos and other great cars,” says Tim McGrane, who coordinates sponsors for the Events International Company of Danville, California, and is executive director of the Blackhawk Museums, celebrating its 30th anniversary, also in Danville. Assisting was Marv Landon, FCA-SW Region events director and Concorso Ferrari chairman.
