Be different, be UNIQ!
This difference you see, touch, hear, even smell, at UNIQ Motorsports, a member of the UNIQ group of companies, 3045 E. Main St. in Mesa, between Lindsay and Val Vista roads. It’s sensed through the speakers, the smell of leather, the stare of hand-stitching.
Opened in October of 2008, UNIQ is a high-end auto salon that sells customized vehicles including Lamborghini, Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Bentley, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin. The boutique also handles “niche” cars such as MINI Cooper, Smart Cars and Hummers.
The UNIQ Team purchases the finest vehicles, then its expert technicians discuss each in detail to determine the best customization package, explains Zach Bruegger, a founding partner who manages the day-to-day operations at Motorsports. With the design set, the vehicle progresses through each department. Everything is done in house — from the paintwork to fabricating the sound system and the custom stitching and upholstery.
“Our award-winning design team keeps its finger on the pulse of what’s new and hot in today’s custom industry,” says Zach. What’s “in” now is “urban chic” — hot foreign cars with luxe after-market wheels, high-dollar audio systems, interior modifications and other custom features. “We know where the urban customization industry is headed and custom design our inventory to reflect those trends.”
“At UNIQ Motorsports, no two cars are alike,” adds Zach, a 16-year industry veteran who oversees 10 professionals. “Each vehicle has its distinctive look, feel and flavor.”
In addition to selling quality vehicles, UNIQ is already well known Valleywide and beyond for its customization of clients’ vehicles. The company offers all of the details that set rides apart: paint, interior upgrades, fabrication, performance, wheels/tires, body kits, lifts/lowers, window and light tinting, audio/video systems, alarms and detailing. In fact, Zach notes, UNIQ formerly completed custom work for local dealers such as the Luxor Auto Group in Scottsdale until the partners decided to focus on individual customers.
The UNIQ Motorsports team calls on a wide range of outstanding suppliers: Audio — JL Audio, MTX Audio, Audison/Hertz Audio; Wheels — Hipnotic, Blaque Diamond, Giovanna, GFG, Forgiato, Lexani, Dropstars and many more; Lift kits — Fabtec, JL Austin and Bulletproof Suspension; and Body Kits by Brabus, VeilSide, Hamann, Mansory, Kahn and many more.
“UNIQ Motorsports is customization at its best — and customer service. “There’s no high-pressure sales here,” Zach says. “Everything we do is laid back. Our products and our workmanship are our best sales tools.”
For instance, a 2005 orange-on-orange Lamborghini Gallardo Sport Coupe, with factory-installed E-Gear and a glass bonnet, has been “UNIQ-Customized” with 20-inch Nitto Neo Gen tires on Donz-Messina wheels; an audio system featuring Panasonic, Hertz and JL Audio components; performance sport exhaust; and a navigation and television system. The one-off Bull includes color-matched paint and interior packages as well as full window and light tinting.
Also a UNIQ one-of-a-kind: A black/black 2006 Rolls Royce Phantom VI, still under factory warranty, struts with 26-inch Giovanna Berlin wheels and Pirelli Scorpion tires and features a navigation/TV theater package, a color-match paint package, customized interior and full window and light tint. A custom audio package and fully motorized trunk bar are in process.
Two 2007 Bentley Continental GTCs are also fully UNIQ-customized. Still with factory warranty, a black/black, has 24-inch Giovanna Dalar wheels, an audio system featuring an Audison sub-woofer and 12-inch Hertz Hi-Energy speakers; navigation and television systems; color-matched paint, custom interior; and full window and light tint.
A black-on-beige GTC, also with factory warranty, carries 22-inch D’Vinci-Attivo wheels and a sound-system upgrade featuring MTX Audio. This car is on loan to the VH1 network for a reality show staring football star, Terrell Owens.
UNIQ Motorsports just doesn’t build cars; it helps to build the lifestyle of urban-customization vehicle owners. The company participates at many events Valleywide, such as NBA All-Star Game after parties, and places cars at nightclubs for festivities such as WHITE Fridays at Cream Stereo Lounge and UNIQ Nights at Myst nightclub, both in Scottsdale.
In April, the company displayed seven of its exotics at the NASCAR Subway Fresh Fit 500 in conjunction with DUB Magazine. The company will also be participating in the DUB Show in Phoenix, June 13, with 11 of its custom exotics.
A week before, June 4–10, UNIQ is hosting a high-profile group of European visitors, including former Tottenham soccer players Paul Walsh and Paul Miller. “We routinely have visitors come in from Europe,” Zach explains. “They spend their time in Arizona living the UNIQ lifestyle — driving the hot cars, enjoying gorgeous A-List accommodations and amenities around Phoenix, including our corporate boat, nightclub events, golf at premier resorts and more.”
Other summer UNIQ events include WHITE Fridays, June 12, July 10, and Aug. 14 at Cream Stereo Lounge, 4252 N. Drinkwater Blvd., Suite A; and To-Be-Announced “Rock Me Arizona” events, including a Frequency Pool Party, Masquerade Ball and Christmas in July. On Aug. 23, UNIQ Motorsports will host an End-of-Summer Pool Bash at Scottsdale’s FireSky Resort with “Rock Me Arizona.”
“To showcase our customized cars and the custom lifestyle that comes with ownership of such exotic automobiles, we teamed up with well-known publisher and TV producer Mark Gorzen, founder of 944 Magazine, to soon begin publishing UNIQ Lifestyles, a magazine that will celebrate the lifestyle of owning exotic cars, and the complementary fashion, luxury living, fine dining, events, nightlife destinations and more,” Zach says.
Gorgeous, sophisticated women, too: The UNIQ group now also sponsors UNIQ Models, a high-end fashion modeling, runway and talent agency, headed by Richard Baldwin, formerly of Baldwin Productions.
“I’m really excited about bringing the same flavor and style I created with 944 Magazine to UNIQ Lifestyles. We’ll talk about other elements of life that complement ownership of the cars,” Mark says, “and we’ll make sure that you’ll be informed about those ‘must-be-at’ events where your cars, and you, will get the attention they deserve.”
